What is the Gottman Method for Couples?
The Gottman Method is a form of couples therapy based on the clinical practice of psychologists and couple, John and Julie Gottman.
Over 40 years of research on more than 3000 couples revealed how negativity impacts the brain more compared to positivity and that, if we fail to act fast to counteract and stop that state, the couple starts to crumble emotionally.
Therefore, the Gottmans created an elaborated formula for couples therapy aiming to help even long term couples to overcome chronic conflicts and reestablish a healthier relationship.

How many levels of the Gottman Method are there?

Do I have to participate in the Gottman Method online training in full?
We recommend full participation in the training due to its extremely practical and interactive nature. The second Level is especially interactive with role play interactions and in-depth discussions with Dr. William Bumberry. View his training workshops here.
How long do I have access to the the Gottman Method online recordings for?
Unlike all our other courses (which have unlimited availability) the Gottman recordings with Dr. William Bumberry are available (as per agreement with The Gottman Institute) for 4 weeks after the training. You will have unlimited access to the downloadable additional materials (slides and manual) and to some pre-recorded videos available in your Gottman Account (read below for more details).

How do I access my Personal Account on The Gottman Institute website?
Once you purchase a course with us, we will buy and create your account with The Gottman Institute, where you have access to the videos and didactic material. Your account will be created using the email, name and surname* you provided at the registration/purchase of the Gottman course with Psychotherapy Courses.
Your email address will be used as a username to access the website.
Once we have created the account, you will receive a confirmation email from The Gottman Institute with a link that you must click to choose a password and finalise your account.
Once you create your password, we have no further access to your Gottman account.
*If the data (email, name, surname) provided to us are not correct, you won’t be able to access the TGI website.

Why is there no video-course provided in the Third Level of The Gottman Method?
The Third Level Gottman is solely a live training with Dr. William Bumberry.
This is a very practical training, based on live demonstrations, roleplays and many exercises to perform in small groups in breakout rooms on Zoom or in-person during the live event. View all training levels here.
