Course Breakdown

Part 1: Resolving emotional injuries: letting go and forgiveness

Learn the principles of emotion focused therapy. Take an in-depth look at the multi-faceted internal processes of forgiveness and letting go, learning how to differentiate between the two. From acceptance of what happened to shame and self-blame, Leslie will guide you in exploring and identifying the different components that aid or block forgiveness, and the physical and psychological impacts they have. You will gain a deeper understanding of how to move forward and break through emotional blocks to ultimately help your client.

Part 2: Undoing emotion blocks: two chair enactments

Here you will realise the importance of identifying and feeling emotions and learn how to teach your client the different ways in which to access them. As the therapist, keeping our finger “on the emotional pulse moment by moment” is crucial. You will watch and engage in a demonstration of a two-chair enactment with Leslie Greenberg and his client. From this you will learn how to guide the client in identifying the steps they need to move from blocking emotion to expressing it.
